What’s inspiring me this week

Every week, I make it a priority to consume/witness some form of art that’s not my own. This week, most of my downtime is spent with my nose buried in a book. I am quite the avid reader, but this book has been pushing the boundaries of what I thought authorship was, there is no doubting that “Bliss Montage Stories” by Ling Ma is art.

Productivity Lifestyle

The book itself is a collection of stories, each chapter bringing you along for a ride. The language is smooth and open, but what really stands out is the author’s ability to blend stark realism with absurd fantasy. As with any good art piece, there is also a healthy dose of social critique hidden in plain sight.

When I read this book, I feel my mind being challenged by the windy trajectory of each story. I feel my childlike imagination being reignited, while also being humbled by very real, adult experiences. It’s definitely a unique feeling, that hasn’t been replicated by any book I’ve read in the past.
